The Schoolhouse Homes

Schoolhouse Homes is a dispersed resort lodging currently comprised of 11 rental homes originally designed and built for private clients by Jim Spear in Mutianyu and Beigou Villages When the owners are not in residence the homes are for use by our guests.Registration and services are centered on The Schoolhouse.There are 30 bed-rooms in total across the 11 homes but we rent only entire homes,not just rooms.The houses,which range from about 100 to 500 square meters in size,all have private gardens and specacular views of the Great Wall with modem comforts including wireless intemet while retaining sense of the original peasant dwelling and surrounding rural communi-ties.We expect the number of homes to grow to aboout 20 in the next several years.Guests of Schoolhouse Homes have day privieges at the Brickyard Spa.

Schoolhouse Homes was selected in both 2009 and 2010 as one of the top five hotels in China by WildChina.

Brickyard lnn & Retreat Center

The Brickard opened in March 2010 with 16 guest rooms,all with priwate terraces and story-and-a-half window walls with panoramic views of the Great Wall clinging to the craggy mountains above.The facility also includes lodge,cafe,meeting rooms,busi-ness center,other public areas and extensive lushly landscaped grounds.This property was converted from a working glazed tile factory with over-all design,including furniture,by Jim Spear. The orginal kilns,office,and dorrnitory were repurposd and salvaged materials were used for construction and decoration.The property employees a complete LED light-ing strategy for environmentally friendly and low-cost operation.

The Brickyard Spa is under development The zen garden and yoga platform opened at the end of August 2010. The Jacuzzi Terrace and Treatment Center (exercise room, indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, sauna) will open in Spring 2011. The Infinity Pool and Sun Deck are slated for Spring 2012.
